As a dynamic and leading girls’ school, we cultivate an atmosphere that shapes the future change makers of the world. Grounded in our Sacred Heart charism, each student’s unique potential is fostered to provide the platform to make a unique impact and difference in the world.

Established in the forward-thinking vision of Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat in 1920, Stuartholme
School stands alongside a network of over 200 Sacred Heart Schools across 44 countries, epitomising a commitment to a global outlook.

Unique to Brisbane, Stuartholme is the only Catholic Day School for girls in Years 5 to 12 and
Boarding School for girls in Year 7 to 12. Nestled across 21 hectares within the heritage-listed
buildings, Stuartholme Boarding offers students a sisterhood of over 130 boarders from rural,
remote and regionals areas across Australia and overseas.

As Stuartholme shapes the leaders of tomorrow, the school values the importance of early years in fostering life-long learning. The newly introduced and nationally recognised Junior School program, offers our young people an innovative approach to learning, crafted to facilitate small group learning, purpose-designed learning spaces, aligning seamlessly with the Stuartholme graduate vision one characterised by courage, compassion, and confidence to effect positive change in their lives and the lives of others.

With award winning programs and innovative and transformative approaches to education for
young women, our leading teachers and specialist staff challenge students to become independent, collaborative, and critical thinkers, equipping students with the capabilities and confidence to actively engage in their learning, providing a balanced educational journey

With a student body of 800, Stuartholme strikes the perfect balance, of a small school with a wide range of opportunities. From extension subjects to camps, retreats, and activities in Sport, Music, Visual and Performing Arts, students actively engage, with over 87% of students participating in one or more activities.

Embedded in our educational practices is the school's Social Justice Program where our students raise awareness of issues and are provided opportunities to take action to make a difference.

Through student-led programs such as the Ponytail project; Harmony days and Red Earth Immersion, the school fosters these opportunities to prepare and inspire students to be active, informed, and responsible global citizens.

Stuartholme extends its influence globally, offering reciprocal exchange opportunities with
approximately 25 Sacred Heart Schools worldwide through the Student Exchange Program. This
international exposure broadens perspectives, enriching the educational journey for students.

Steeped in our rich history we provide a contemporary and transformative education with heart for young women, so they can challenge a modern world and make a global impact.

Stuartholme offers a diverse range of subjects, delivered by highly qualified teachers and specialist staff who are experts in their fields and challenge their students to become independent, critical thinkers, arming them with the confidence to actively engage in their learning. The Pedagogical Framework articulates the teaching and learning practices required to deliver the Graduate Vision, shaping and empowering young women to be the agents of change, instilling the selfknowledge that their thoughts and actions have the ability to make an impact. Each student is an individual with different strengths and areas of growth, which is why our teachers focus on progression for every learner, regardless of their starting point.

Our Cocurricular Program encourages students to explore opportunities that enrich their schooling. Categorised by sports, creative arts, enrichment and social justice initiatives, students can choose from over 47 activities.

Special Programs

A fundamental principle of a Sacred Heart Education is that all students have a right to be educated to their fullest potential. The best educational outcome for each individual student is always the main objective. Stuartholme School collectively values a deep respect for intellectual values, and celebrates academic performance and achievements.

Stuartholme offers extensive curriculum opportunities which involves many experiences within and beyond the classroom. Stuartholme offers a diverse variety of subjects, enrichment and extension opportunities, a broad Vocational Education Program and 47 cocurricular activities for students to explore

Stuartholme’s highly qualified teachers and specialist staff are experts in their fields and challenge their students to become independent, critical thinkers, arming them with the confidence to actively engage in their learning. The way they teach is aimed at empowering each of the young women in their care to be the agents of change, instilling the selfknowledge that their thoughts and actions have the ability to make an impact. Each student is an individual with different strengths and areas of growth, which is why our teachers focus on progression for every learner, regardless of their starting point.

Our cocurricular activities reinforce the value of ‘learning outside of the classroom’. The Cocurricular Program enables students to discover, develop and value their talents, allowing them to grow in selfconfidence through a range of ageappropriate learning experiences. Students are encouraged to enjoy and contribute to their community, and to participate in servicelearning, social justice programs, sports, arts and cultural activities, clubs, societies, domestic and international exchanges within the Sacred Heart Sister Schools worldwide.

Stuartholme has a long tradition of educating girls. Our Foundress, Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat, ensured the Society of the Sacred Heart contributed financially to the education and the promotion of women in her time and into the future. Sophie is quoted as saying “for the sake of one child, I would have founded the Society”. Her desire to educate all children was well known.
